FAQ AEC

Is AEC an audit tool?

AEC is a data extraction tool for auditors, it doesn’t replace classic tools for auditors or tax specialists, normally called fraud analysis tools.

The most well-known of these tools are ACL Desktop (distributed by ACL and used by the French tax authorities) and IDEA (distributed by CASEWARE and used by the German tax authorities).

The fact the AEC creates files in SAP .ais format (also used by DART) means that AEC files are immediately recognized by audit tools.

AEC is intended for which public?

AEC was developed for four types of user:

- Internal auditors

- External auditors

- Tax experts (internal, consultant, tax authorities)

- SAP competence centers needing a data extraction tool

    Why should I use AEC?

Internal or external auditors and tax experts all need to get data extracts usually by asking the SAP system administrators.

Extracting data from a database seems easy but experience shows that this task is often complicated – setting task priorities, archived data, large data volumes, data transfer to different sites, data security, system security, and data traceability all complicate the process.

AEC was developed for and with auditors, with SAP specialists, and answers all the above problems leading to a unique product.

Why is AEC better than other extraction tools?

Functionally AEC was developed for and with auditors. Technically it was developed to manage large data volumes (it runs on a SAP system with over 30TB of data), either online or archived.

It allows auditors to work without disturbing the SAP competence center and its 100% ABAP architecture allows system administrators to ensure it doesn’t disturb SAP system performance.

Is AEC accepted by auditors and tax specialists?

In countries (the majority) where tax experts work on data extraction of SAP tables and where auditors use data analysis tools, AEC provides that necessary solutions to the everyday problems encountered by these users.

It provides a complete traceability and is thus well accepted by auditors and tax experts.

Experts working in countries with a DART country specific version can use AEC to extract data not covered by DART. TJC also provides the DSC (DART Session Cockpit) tool for automating DART extracts.

    How is it installed?

    By SAP add-on.

How long does the installation take?

Less than 1 hour, the customizing generally takes less than 1 day.

    Is there a user guide?

Yes, the product is delivered with a user guide in French, English and German.

Will AEC still be supported in the future?

AEC is developed in ABAP, and delivered as a SAP add-on with visible source code.
